Since I began my quest for The Job with The Company I have been putting a lot of thought into what I want my next move to be. There is no doubt that there are a number of companies out there that do amazing things and treat employees well. The more I have thought about the company that I want to work for the more companies I have found that match what I’m looking for.
I have also put more time into researching the companies that I listed in my ‘The Company’ post. I have found that one of these companies strongly matches what I am looking for in a number of ways and I am now pursuing employment with them.
I have not yet been successful in attaining The Job, but I have learnt a number of things through this process.
Firstly, that I needed to spend some time determining what it was I was looking for and really research the type of companies that I wanted to work in. This involved scouring journals, magazines and various other resources for information, finding out what type of people work there and seeing what they have to say about where they work.
Secondly, this process has reminded me why it is that I became interested in Human Resources and fired up my passion again. I have been attending more networking and education sessions, reading more, talking more and connecting more with people.
Finally, and most importantly I have answered my own questions about whether I’m on the right path, what it is I’m looking for and how I am going to get there.
Now, I just have to be patient, keep putting in the work and know that soon I will have The Job.
